Dhanteras is also known as Dhantrayodashi. It is observed on the thirteenth day of the Kartik month of the Dark Lunar fortnight that is Krishna Paksha.
In India, we celebrate as a festival of goddess Lakshmi that they come to our home and showering her blessing on us. Dhanteras shows us a wealthy and prosperous life. On this day we purchase gold, utensils, silver, diamond. It is auspicious for us.
We put our all efforts with emotion that goddess Lakshmi in this Dhanteras. For Indians, it is not a festival its an emotion for us. we pray with our dignity to the goddess. we always wish this joyful moment come and spread joy in our hearts.
The festival is celebrated as “Lakshmi Puja” is performed in the evenings when tiny diyas of clay are lit to drive away from shadows of evil spirits. bhajans songs in praise of Goddess Lakshmi and “Naivedya” of traditional sweets ered to the Goddess. A peculiar custom in Maharashtra people lightly pound dry coriander seeds (Dhane in Marathi for Dhanatrayodashi) with jaggery and offer the mixture as naivedya
